The U.S. is too Litigious

My parents were both trial attorneys, predominantly for civil cases. My father mostly represented defendants/insurance companies. My mother represented plaintiffs/people suing other people and companies. they both agreed that our nation favors and encourages plaintiffs far too much as part of our national romanticization of the underdog, stemming from our national myth as a nation founded by rebellion against an empire.

I propose a super easy way to curb our nation’s out-of-control litigiousness without making any real changes to our legal system. Just change the word “plaintiff” to “complainer.”
